These robot masters would be from the ill-fated Megaman PC games by Hi-Tec Expressions, liscenced by Capcom. [And that's not all of 'em; you'll have to follow the link] They're going to appear in a story I hope to complete, entitled "Blackburn". I'll have more sketches up soon, if I have time. Suffice it to say it takes place in a giant, rusty-looking mecha-sphere a la the Death Star... First of all, what are "Junkbots"? Junkbots are those robots built by the Master [more on him later] or one of his mechanics. Because they're literally made from scrap, they're obviously not very elegant, but what they lack in good looks they make up for in firepower. [Oh, if only that was the REAL excuse for their design.] They patrol the...um...Not-Death-Star, weeding out troublemakers. Toxman: This guy was actually a regular enemy in the second game, but he'd make a better Junkbot. Toxman's main form of attack is acid shot from the cannon on his arm. This acid is capable of eating through adamantium (assuming it exists), so getting tagged by it is sure to kill you no matter how well you were doing before. However, it's very easily dissolved, so Toxman hangs out with Sharkman to minimize damage to the understructure of the ship. Logic! Voltman: Gotta love the use of primary colors here. Voltman himself may not look particularly threatening, but his electrical storage rivals that of even Elecman or Sparkman, and he's fast to boot. Powerful AND hard to hit--maybe Hi-Tec learned something from Capcom there, ne? Voltman fights dirty--REAL dirty, as you'll probably see. He's without morals like most of the Junkbots, having been built by Mondu himself. He's usually the first 'bot that any "guest" fight in the ring, and the guests usually lose. Taking him down is going to be more difficult than anticipated. Dynaman: Ignore that awful d00dle; I've got to work on him. Dynaman throws bundles of dynamite throughout the ship, scattering any "rats" who may have been hiding from him. This recklessness has landed him on repair duty, much to his chagrin, but it hasn't stopped him. He's still a force to be reckoned with, as Mega and his friends are about to see. [There's a reason personality details are, for the most part, being left out--it's getting late and I'll have to fill that in later.] Torchman: Arguably the strongest, but only in his natural element--the grabage-oil refineries. Because the ship is not powered by oil, any of the liquid that makes it onboard is given to Torchman. In truth, this guy is a huge loser, but he goes on anyway. It's his power that earns him fear from the little psuedo-Mechanloids that strut about their domain. Like the other Junkbots, Torchman loves a good fight, especially the ones he can win easily. Told you he's a loser. Oh, and Magnetman just called--he wants his costume back. Too bad for you, Torchy. Bitman: The only Junkbot with any common sense. I wonder where all the intelligence protocols went...maybe Mondu wisely kept them for himself. If so, good for him...but the design protocols are seriously lacking. I mean really...Ahem. Bitman is the smartest of the main Junkbots, always evalutating his situations before jumping into the action. But, in such a "shoot everything with a good design--er, that moves" world, that won't get you very far. It's a shame he's pushed to the side so often, because he really IS strong--a result of honing his skills on the prisoners [whether they deserved it or not]. Seems to be on bad terms with Voltman, for some reason. Sharkman: Ok, maybe saying ALL the Junkbots are morons is unfair (and really, they're not THAT stupid, just cocky). Sharkman patrols the water tanks and kills anything that's not supposed to be there. He actually works with Toxman to "keep the peace", though he has to be miiiighty careful when doing so, cuz I already mentioned the acid of doom. Like Snakeman, he's fast and powerful (and thus cheap...), and cheats to win like Voltman. He claims it's all a game (so he obviously lost a few nuts and bolts), and sometimes inspires the prisoners to escape just so he may kill them. Bastard. Legato: My own character, obviously. And, as you can see, the colors kinda fit with the other Junkbots. >< Legato isn't much different from the other Junkbots, aside from being female and lacking pupils (Voltman doesn't count). She aids her "comrades" in "keeping the peace" by beating the snot out of anyone who steps out of line. Some say Legato is unstable, but they haven't lived long enough to say more. Of course, being a Junkbot as opposed to something more refined (like a Robot Master, if you will) has its drawbacks. She has the same arrogance as her coworkers, but recieves just as much punishment for screw-ups. I gotta write the damn story... Mondu: The Big Bad Cheese himself. There's actually an interesting bit of history behind Mondu: He's based off the main villain of the ooooollldd Genesis/DOS/C64 game, "Mondu's Fight Palace/Fatman/Tongue of the Fatman" which I happened across and looked into one day. Very reminiscent of those old PC games I used to play...Mondu, as you can see, resembles a robotic spider, and possibly Sparkman as he appeared on the American MM3 boxart. He controls the ship and everything on it, pitting the prisoners against his own Junkbots for entertainment. The ship itself has been going to various planets and galaxies, capturing a handful of robots and then leaving as quickly as it came, and just happens to stop at Earth. He's used to control and since no one has tried to take it from him, it's gonna stay that way. Mondu is one bad motherfucker, and it's going to take more than Megaman and Blues's strength combined to take him down... ...on the other hand, I'm trying not to turn him into that fat freak Mrrungu-mu from that Silver Surfer hardback special, who only got taken down because Silver Surferdude got damn lucky. It's like trying to wrestle with a tornado... Characters (C) Hi-Tec, Capcom, Me Art (C) Me |

Yeah, I'm the only one who went out of their way to get sprites of the PC guys ..... and I missed one upon playing the game recently. (I played the game recently .... of my own free will!?) Toxman jumping. Oh well.
Good job on those guys. I like to use 'em in my own stories as well.
Toxman can jump? Dang, he must be one tough enemy in-game.
Thanks.
